A new start from the ashes
Jun. 4th, 2019 02:06 pmKomui pinched the bridge of his nose as he finished writing some notes for future plans and contingencies. The chair underneath him creaked loudly as he let out a long sigh, his conflicted expression betraying merely the surface level of his current state of mind.
The Order. That damnable place he'd tried to reform had instead turned into something beyond saving. Worse they had taken the one source of light Lenalee had found for herself once more. It made no sense. The cardinals acted so cruel and callous even by human standards. Then there was the affair with certain Innocence users acting strangely as if him and Lenalee were strangers as they were attacked. If not for the fact that Lenalee had been left with a secret way out by Allen who had prepared a one time Ark gate for her to escape should things...develop like this, odds were he would either be imprisoned or dead and as for Lenalee...she likely would have perished fighting or worse in captivity.
Yet only now she seemed to finally be able to sleep. It wasn't peaceful by any means, the covers on her body already crumpled up in her hands yet he could do nothing against the night terrors but try to soothe her when they became too intense.
"Why do you hate her so much, God? Hasn't she lost enough?" Komui murmured with bitterness. "It doesn't matter. No matter how much you may try to take from her, she will always have me." Even if it ended with him being the last man alive, he would never leave Lenalee and with time maybe...maybe he could cure those wounds in her heart.
